Story 01From accountancy to business ownership
One woman I coached had spent years as an accountant, despite feeling unhappy in the profession. In our conversations, it became clear how much she enjoyed communicating with customers and managing relationships.
We explored whether she could use those strengths to support other accountants with their customer service. She went on to establish a business providing customer relationship services to accountancy firms, keeping the value of her professional experience while doing work better suited to her abilities.
The lessonThe opportunity you're looking for may already be connected to what you know. It's a question of how differently you apply your strengths.
Story 02From interest to purposeful leadership
Another person I supported had a longstanding interest in homelessness. We explored how his communication skills and commitment to others might become the foundation for meaningful work, and I encouraged him to consider establishing a charity.
He initially lacked confidence in approaching social services and other organisations. We worked through his concerns, built on his strengths and planned how he could move forward. He went on to establish a charity supporting people experiencing homelessness.
The lessonThis is the work I enjoy most: helping people recognise their capabilities, see their possibilities and find the confidence to pursue them.
