Independent researcher and founder
Research grounded in evidence, experience and organisational relevance.
I am the founder and Research Director of COBE Research. My work examines the workplace conditions affecting Black professionals, with a focus on wellbeing, performance, progression, identity management and organisational risk.
The Cost of Black Excellence began because familiar workplace explanations did not account for what I was hearing and observing. High achievement often sat beside exhaustion, disrupted sleep, continual self-monitoring, blocked progression and decisions to leave employment altogether.
I wanted to move the conversation beyond isolated stories. I began with 13 in-depth interviews with Black professional women across sectors and career stages. Those interviews informed a wider independent research programme that has since involved more than 1,100 participants.
The purpose

My research makes hidden workplace burden visible, measurable and relevant to organisational decision-making.

This combination shapes how I communicate research. I retain the complexity of workplace experience while making the organisational consequences clear enough for leaders to examine and act upon.
